Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)
This is a condition that can occur as a result of fertility treatments, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), that stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. OHSS can cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bloating, and in severe cases can lead to blood clots, kidney failure, and even death.
Ectopic Pregnancy
This is a condition in which a fertilized egg implants itself outside of the uterus, typically in the fallopian tubes. Ectopic pregnancies can lead to serious complications, such as internal bleeding and rupture of the fallopian tubes, and can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
Multiple Pregnancies
Fertility treatments such as IVF can increase the risk of multiple pregnancies, which can lead to a variety of complications, such as premature birth, low birth weight, and placental problems.
